At Uniquesilk Puppies, breeding Labrador puppies is approached with knowledge, patience and long term responsibility. With over 30 years of experience and an Ofqual Level 3 qualification in dog breeding, litter socialisation and welfare, we combine practical expertise with structured early development to produce healthy, well balanced companion Labrador puppies.
We intentionally limit our program to no more than two carefully planned litters per year. This allows each puppy to receive individual attention, careful monitoring and thoughtful assessment before placement. Our focus is quality of development rather than volume.
Our Labrador Puppies are raised within our home as part of our daily family life. We do not operate kennel facilities. From birth, puppies are gently introduced to household routines, sounds and experiences in a calm and measured manner.
Based in East Devon, our dogs benefit from beaches and woodland walks as part of their regular routine, supporting both physical wellbeing and balance temperament.
What we look for in a home
Placing the right Labrador puppy with the right family is one of the most important parts of responsible breeding.
At Uniquesilk, we carefully assess temperament during the first eight weeks and match puppies based on suitability, lifestyle and long-term compatibility.
When considering applications, we look for:
- A genuine long-term commitment
- Time for training, structure and socialisation
- Willingness to attend puppy training classes
- Understanding of positive reinforcement methods
- Financial preparedness for lifetime veterinary care and insurance
- A secure home environment
- Patience during the early settling-in period
We value homes that recognise a puppy is not simply a pet, but a 12-15 year commitment requiring guidance, consistency and care.
Colour preference is noted. However, temperament and suitability will always take priority.
We also ask that families are able to collect their puppy at eight weeks of age (or no later than nine weeks), as this is an important developmental transition period.
We do not operate on a “first to pay chooses first” basis. Each placement is considered thoughtfully and in the best interests of the puppy.
If this approach resonates with you, we welcome your application via our website.

We are licensed with East Devon District Council and hold a 5-Star Higher Standards rating under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018.
This reflects compliance beyond the basic statutory requirements and demonstrates our commitment to responsible breeding practices, transparency and welfare-led standards.
Breeding decisions are based on temperament, structural soundness and health testing in accordance with Royal Kennel Club recommendations. Relevant health results are publicly recorded via the Royal Kennel Club database where applicable.
